What Remains

Ikaria, Greece, 2025-

This ongoing project follows my friend’s return to Ikaria, the Aegean island where part of her multigenerational Greek family still lives. What has emerged is a reflection on a place that feels both timeless and impermanent, sustained by the quiet persistence of people who have shared a landscape and a history of communal living for generations.

At its center, the project asks what remains - when a parent can no longer return, when generational anchors disappear, when lives and identities unfold far from their origins. How do we understand belonging, home, and memory and where do they reside? In this sense, this is an ode to the small worlds we carry, with understated dignity, within the larger one.
