WHAT REMAINS
Ikaria, Greece, 2025-
This ongoing project follows my American friend as she returns annually to Ikaria, the Aegean island where parts of her multigenerational Greek family still live together.
In his teens, her father left Greece for America. Now in his sixties and living in Florida with ALS, he will not return. So Kara does.
When lives and identities take root far from their origins, when generational anchors disappear, when geographical distance separates the physically tangible, how do we understand belonging, home, and memory and where do they reside in impermanence?
